Are you preparing for
IIT JEE or CAT or AIPMT or NDA?
Are you confused
regarding what to do and how to do it?
Do you often wonder about
what winners do differently?
If you too have or had
these questions in your mind and haven’t found the answer yet; this is the
place for you.
But first, let’s clear
some airs of confusion.
JEE (Joint Entrance
Exam) is the common entrance exam conducted for admissions in various engineering
colleges. Earlier it was only for getting admissions into IITs but in 2012,
CBSE changed it into a common entrance test in place of AIEEE and IIT JEE. Now students
who want admissions into IITs have to sit through two exams, JEE Main and JEE
Advanced. The rest however can make do by clearing the former only.
CAT (Common Admission
test) is the exam for Entrance in MBA and other management programs
throughout India. Conducted yearly on a rotational basis by different IIMs,
this is one exam open for graduates, post graduates and working people. Candidates
get admissions to a whole segment of colleges based on what they have fared in
scores. Other than CAT there are exams like XAT, MAT and GMAT for admissions in
other B-schools in and outside the country.
AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical
Test) is the entrance exam for 15% seats in all government medical and
dental colleges throughout India except for Andhra Pradesh and Jammu &
Kashmir. The exam is tough to crack and faces really hot competition every
year.
NDA (National Defence
Academy) exam is hosted for selecting candidates for training and
recruitment for the three wings of our National Defence i.e. The Army, The Navy
and The Air Force. The two-stage selection procedure selects candidates first
on the basis of their written NDA exam score then by SSB evaluation score. The
exam is conducted twice every year by UPSC in the months of April and August.
The thing common in preparation of all these exams is dedicated and
efficient hard-work.
A lot of students take these exams on a regular basis; only
a few get selected, reason being they do the same things but differently. If
you wonder what those “different” things are; we have lined up a few of them,
read on.
- When it comes to work, all that matters is quality: Sure you can work hard for hours at the end on a daily basis, but if that work is not focused or not optimized with your preparation needs, it’s not going to result in anything.
- They are not sprinters, they are marathoners: Last minute preparations won’t serve you in competitive exams, you can work with this attitude in school level exams but competitions are all together a different beast. Prepare and prepare well from the very beginning, each day, each hour is important.
- They just don’t make plans, they act on it: How many people you think plan for their preparation? You guessed it right, a lot, if not all. But the key difference between who wins and who loses is proper execution of planning. You will have to act on what you have decided for yourself. It’s high time to quit procrastination.
- They are good at Self-Motivation: What keeps the fire of hard-work alive? Motivation, that’s right. Amongst the major differences between people who clear through competitions and who don’t is the ability to self-motivate in face of adversities and tough times. To do so and tap into the enormous well of self-driven motivation and passion you must know your calling in your heart and follow only the things that are in sync with your true self.
- They take 100% responsibility: Last but not the least; winners have this amazing habit of taking complete responsibility for their actions and the consequences thereof. When things go wrong or when results don’t come out as expected, they don’t go seeking-out someone or something to blame, instead they take full responsibility, scrutinize their plans and execution, isolate the weak spots and start working upon them right away. They fall, like all humans do, at some point or the other, but they quickly gather themselves up and their spirits and move-on to the road to success.
The things mentioned in here aren’t hard to achieve, all you
need is a little attitude adjustment and off you will go realizing your dreams
and achieving success at whatever you do.
